Background
Background information on Mike Parkinson – Proprietor
Mike originates from North East England but he’s been living in around London for the last 15 years and has successfully restored three of his own homes, generating significant equity growth and being able to use these assets to build a solid base for his family.
Although Mike left school at 16, he began working for a classic Triumph sports car restoration company in his home town of Sedgefield, County Durham. He always had a desire to work with cars and was lucky enough to be able to learn and train with professionals, honing his metal working, welding, panel preparation and painting skills to very high standards and tolerances, even at a young age.
Mike then also started refurbishing his own motor cycles and cars and it is this basis of high quality restoration where many of the current values and skills regarding property refurbishment originate from.

Even working on his friends vehicles...

Moving on to property both for friends and relatives…

From the age of 18 Mike worked in the paint factory at Nissan’s Sunderland manufacturing plant helping to launch the Nissan Micra from 1992, responsible for rectifying complex and detailed paint faults before the cars were assembled. Nissans’s emphasis on “continuous process and quality improvement” is also a key basis to the values now entrenched within Parkinson Restorations Ltd.
Mike then moved into the role of public relations, being moved into an office environment responsible for taking dignitaries, business managers/directors and locals around the whole manufacturing plant. Here Mike began to hone his people skills and then made the move to Nissan’s sales and marketing office near Watford. His responsibility was running and maximising the effectiveness of Nissan’s fleet of 80-100 cars for evaluation by journalists. Here he learned how to manage multi million pound spends and time and process management techniques that would prove invaluable to the running of Parkinson Restorations Ltd. Further marketing career moves embelleshing his knowledge of business practices included:
- with Nissan the development of a revised, consistent global corporate identity across retail, corporate and dealer communications
- a marketing agency running incentive schemes for Ford car dealers
- a senior account manager role at an integrated audio / video content design and media sales agency for bars, night clubs and retail environments
A Business Studies A level evening course and an A grade Certificate in Management work related course (launching Nissan into the emerging alternative fuel market) further added to his skill set.
